Examining Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth
Sermon Series
Eckhart Tolle is the bestselling author of A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. His aim in writing this book is to bring about a shift in consciousness, a spiritual awakening for the entire human race. Tolle argues that in order to enter into a new spiritual awakening three conditions that must be met. First, we must possess the "readiness to awaken" to spiritual truth. Second, the "text must have transformative power." And third, terminology used needs to be as neutral as possible so that it transcends the confines of any one culture, religion, or spiritual tradition.1
Over the next three weeks we will compare Tolle's teaching to Biblical teaching on subjects such as: Ego and Sin, Consciousness and Salvation. We hope that this critical examination of Eckhart Tolle will be both insightful and life-changing.
