CITY GROUPS

"City Groups are where the church can be the church to one another and to the city."

City groups are geographically-based, city-focused communities of people that gather throughout the week to share life and truth, love God and one another, and engage the social and spiritual needs of our city. They're awesome, a place where the church can be the church to one another and to the city.

Once every four or five weeks, City Groups serve their local communities through strategic social partnerships (Loaves & Fishes, Capitol Food Bank, Austin Children’s Shelter) instead of gathering in homes. City Groups do life together based on Three Practices and Four Principles.

Three Practices

  • Share life and truth.

City Groups are more than meetings; they are communities that share life throughout the week: meals, trials, vacation, mission, etc. These imperfect communities are united by the perfecting truth of the gospel of grace.

  • Pray for one another and the city.
City Groups pray regularly for one another, their neighbors, and their city because they know that it is ultimately God who renews the city.

  • Engage peoples and cultures.
City Groups engage the peoples and cultures of their neighborhoods and apartments with genuine interest, love, and the hope of redemption.

Four Principles

  • We all are broken: We are all more broken than we want to admit, and God is more holy than we comprehend.

  • We all need Jesus: In Jesus we are more forgiven and accepted than we can imagine, and God is more delighted in us that we understand.

  • We all need one another: We need each other to share our struggles and joys in following Jesus.

The world needs the gospel: The gospel of Christ changes and renews the peoples and cultures of the world.
