Love Looks Like a Landrover?

A guy in our church had recently been through some tough financial times. Due to the downturn in the economy, this husband and father had been laid off from his job, losing not only his income, but the company car. Another guy from the church happens to have a pretty good job, and a pretty nice car…and decided to give it to the family who had recently lost theirs.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts. - Acts 2:42-46

Whenever I read that something inside of me lights up and all I can think is “I’M IN! SHOW ME A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO LIVE LIKE THAT AND I WILL GO ALL IN.” We are seeing signs of this kind of community at Austin City Life. People are sharing meals, opening their homes, and helping each other move (always fun!). People are helping others find jobs, babysitting one anothers kids for date nights, sharing some laughs and some truth out at restaraunts and coffeeshops, and supporting one anothers art.

This stuff doesn’t
ju
st happen, that is Acts 2 community! And it is sweet!
So in conclusion, sometimes love looks like a PIZZA PARTY, and sometimes love looks like a LAND ROVER!
